Elizabeth Olsen stars in this psychological thriller, the title of which refers to the different names her character is given during the course of the story. Having spent two years living as part of an abusive cult, Martha runs away and reconnects with her older sister. However, her dehumanising indoctrination at the hands of the manipulative cult leader Patrick has taken its toll and, haunted by disturbing memories, she struggles to revert to normality. The audience must figure out what is real and what is merely the manifestation of the psychological damage inflicted upon Martha.
Ree is a rare character, something like a western hero with a quiet courage that enthralls in this compelling Oscar-nominated drama.
