Synopsis

After a chance encounter in the bathrooms of a photography exhibition, Dom and Yas wonder the streets of Peckham and Brixton sharing banter and sob stories about their recent breakups. Dom is dreading meeting up with his ex-girlfriend of six years, who cheated on him with his best friend, so Yas decides to gate-crash their tense final meet-up to offer him some highly inventive moral support. Dom in turn helps Yas on her impulsive quest to break into her ex-boyfriend’s house and retrieve her favourite record. The pair find solace and silliness in each other’s company, but as new possibilities blossom between them, complicated feelings from their respective breakups seem to want to trip them up. Showcasing an immersive filming style and gorgeous, colourful cinematography, Rye Lane is a truly fresh, authentic, and highly enjoyable regeneration of the British romantic comedy genre.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
