Synopsis

Alfie is the ultimate ladies' man. Boasting a string of girlfriends and one night stands, the key to his success seems to be never allowing himself to become emotionally involved. However, when Alfie does finally find a woman with whom he wants to settle down, he suffers a crippling blow to his ego when she rejects him in favour of a younger man. One of the best-known movie portraits of swinging 1960s London, director Lewis Gilbert's quick-witted film made an instant name for a young Michael Caine, helping catapult him to international stardom.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
