The poll has closed, and we're very happy to announce that the winner of Family and Young Peoples' Film of the Year (Sponsored by MGM and in association with First News) is Mary Poppins Returns! The award was presented by actress and Into Film Ambassador Ruby Barnhill.
It may have taken over 50 years for a sequel to arrive, but the follow-up to children's classic Mary Poppins has clearly had an immediate impact, demonstrating that the charms of everyone's favourite magical nanny haven't dimmed in almost half a century. Mary Poppins Returns sees the title role taken by Emily Blunt, as Poppins returns to the Banks household to help the family through a new set of hardships. As well as playfully recalling the original, Mary Poppins Returns is full of new songs and accompanied by dazzling choreography, which evokes some of Hollywood's most memorable musicals.
Voted for by our audience, as well as readers of First News, Mary Poppins Returns took almost 25% of the total vote, beating Mama Mia! Here We Go Again and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse into second and third place respectively.
