After successful events in EnglandWales and Northern Ireland, today saw Into Film launch in Scotland, as we continue our aim to engage children and young people across the United Kingdom with film.

Present at the event at St Mungo's Academy in Glasgow were Louise Glen, Senior Education Officer at Education Scotland; Scott Donaldson, Portfolio Manager for Special Projects at Creative Scotland; Emily Munro, Head of Learning at Glasgow Film; and Into Film CEO, Paul Reeve.

Addressing the crowd, Scott Donaldson spoke of his delight that Creative Scotland were involved in the launch, saying: "Learning about film is essential for all. The combination of words, sound, music and pictures make film the most powerful form of communication."

Youth voice was at the heart of the launch. 13-year-old Anna, part of Into Film's Young Reporter programme and our Youth Advisory Council, spoke about her experiences, including interviewing industry experts at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. 16-year-old Scottish filmmaker Morgan then introduced his music video for DJ Paul Oakenfold's 'Who Do You Love?', which was nominated at last year's Into Film Festival, and has amassed over 40,000 views on YouTube.

Into Film's Scotland Ambassador, BAFTA® and Oscar®winning director Kevin MacDonald, recorded a video message for attendees in which he encouraged children and young people across the country not to be overawed by the prospect of making their own films. Watch it and the rest of the day's speeches here.

It's brilliant how teachers are using movies to engage kids with the world. Through it children will be exposed to different worlds, new cultures and the limitless possibilities life has to offer.
