Immerse your learners in a whimsical origin story with Wonka: Pure Imagination, created in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures. Marking the release of Wonka, in cinemas December 8, this lesson sequence offers learners aged 7-12 opportunities to develop their entrepreneurial spirit, inspired by Wonka himself. A series of invention-based activities make links to curriculum topics from KS1 and KS2 (or equivalent) maths, design & technology, art & design, English/literacy, PSHE and science.

Wonka: Pure Imagination calls on young inventors to apply their entrepreneurial flair in planning and pitching their own marvellous chocolate creations:

  • In our Which Chocolate Am I starter activity pupils will be challenged to guess each other’s favourite chocolates from descriptions of shape, ingredients, and packaging.
  • With their creative juices and vocabulary flowing, pupils can dazzle like Wonka by bringing their fresh ideas to our Pitch Your Own Chocolate activity. This activity, which can be done individually or in groups, culminates in an elevator pitch.
  • In our Design and Build Your Own Packaging Nets activity, learners will create persuasive packaging for their chocolates, including a logo, colour scheme and nutritional information.
  • My Scrummy Yummy Chocolate activity offers a taste of practical chocolate making.

We’d love to see what your pupils come up with! Share pictures of their Wonka-inspired creations using #LearnWithWonka on social media.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
