Home Learning During COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues into 2021, we're aware that different parts of the UK find themselves under ever-shifting government restrictions, particularly when it comes to schools. With measures varying in each of the four nations, and across different regions, we recognise that this places teachers and educators in a difficult situation, and that many children and young people are once again having to learn from home.

Teaching remotely and delivering lessons online is not easy, but young people being able to continue their education is of vital importance. To help with this, we're building on the materials and support we offered teachers during the first lockdown, and doing everything we can to support educators and those learning from home to be able to maintain their learning practices, and both enjoy and benefit from working from home as much as possible. This page will be updated regularly throughout this unprecedented period to help educators access a range of resources and activities to support cross-curricular learning through the medium of film.

Our curriculum-linked resources can be accessed with an Into Film Account (it only takes a moment to set one up), and can be used to engage children at home with the world of film in an educationally meaningful way. We also have several News and Views articles offering advice on how best to support children undertaking learning from home, and tips to help the young people themselves get to grips with a potentially new situation.

You can download our British Council Shorts resources that use a selection of short films to engage Primary and Secondary age learners to develop their understanding of the 3Cs and 3Ss of film. These resources are suitable for use in the classroom for teacher delivery or to be used independently by learners at home.

We've also made a number of our member-facing activities freely available to all, many of which offer fun filmmaking activities to take part in. These activities provide help for teachers and parents by offering simple, easy and useful activities that young people can complete unaided. If you're an educator, you can download the activities below and send them on to parents or young people, or you can encourage young people to visit this page and download them directly.
