Synopsis

New York City zoo is home to many wild animals, including Alex the lion, who loves the glory and comfort of being the star attraction. But his friend Marty the zebra is bored of zoo life and attempts to escape, aided by some cunning penguins. However, their sneaky getaway doesn't go as planned, and Alex, Marty and their friends the hippo and giraffe - who had been perfectly happy in the zoo - end up being sent to Africa. During the voyage, their crate falls off the ship, and the foursome end up on the island of Madagascar - where they suddenly realise that while living in New York, they have become far-from-wild animals. Madagascar is a fun computer-animated movie, with some loveable characters and hilarious romps.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
