The Breadwinner: Raise Your Words is a brand-new resource, which weaves English, PSHE and citizenship through creative writing. 

Created for 11-16 year olds, it celebrates the cinema release of The Breadwinner on Friday 25 May, the resource explores how to harness the power of storytelling to unite and inspire in times of change.

Based on the bestselling novel by Deborah Ellis, The Breadwinner is a stunningly unique, Oscar-nominated animation from the studio that bought you Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells.

Executive produced by United Nations Special Envoy Angelina Jolie, the film tells the story of Parvana, a young girl growing up under the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001. Parvana disguises herself as a boy to earn money and support her family after her father is wrongfully arrested. It is an emotional and compelling tale of one girl's bravery, perseverance and commitment to family.
