Karou Tono is a forlorn high school student who has a strained relationship with his father. After a curious encounter with a new girl at his school who at first seems detached and aloof, Karou stumbles across a tunnel near a countryside railway line. Karou discovers that the dazzling tunnel holds magical powers but that it slows down time, meaning visitors can lose whole days in the real world if they spend only seconds inside it. The new girl, an aspiring manga creator, follows him into the mysterious space. The pair team up to try and understand exactly how the tunnel operates, so that it may grant them each their most ardent wish. But as they grow closer, living life in the here and now presents painful challenges, yet also hopeful promises. Sensitively exploring difficult topics including grief and self-doubt, this beautifully drawn animation is a truly immersive cinematic experience.
