Film title

Rico, Oskar und die Tieferschatten (The Pasta Detectives)

Synopsis

Rico is a playful 10-year-old who lives with his mother in Berlin. Other children make fun of him because he can easily misunderstand everyday things and because he often gets overwhelmed by his surroundings, preferring to stay at home. He is, however, incredibly observant and often notices details others may not. One day he meets Oskar, a slightly younger boy with high intelligence. Although the two are very different, they quickly become friends and with Oskar’s help, Rico discovers parts of the city he has never seen before. When Oskar is suddenly kidnapped, Rico must believe in himself and use his skills to work out the clues that will lead to his friend’s rescue. This adaptation of a German children’s book of the same name explores neurodivergence and embracing others’ differences through a tale of friendship.
