In the second instalment of the 'Fantastic Beasts' series, Newt Scamander agrees to help Dumbledore thwart the rise of a dark wizard. Following the film there will be a short video talk from Chris Parks who'll discuss his work with 3D filmmaking.

Speaker

Chris Parks was the Stereo Supervisor behind the box office smash Gravity. The job of Stereo Supervisor is to make stereoscopic 3D decisions for the film. In the same way, the composer uses sound to tell a story; a stereographer uses 3D to captivate the audience and evoke emotions. This achievement was no small task given the ambitious nature of the project and the film's success at both the box office and the awards ceremonies.

Film title

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Synopsis

The previous adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander in 1920s New York may have resulted in the capture of the dark and dangerous wizard Gellert Grindelwald – a figure who would be admired by Lord Voldemort in years to come – but he soon escapes custody and begins to amass a group of followers. Grindelwald’s ultimate plan is to ensure pure-blood wizards and witches are able to rule over non-magical beings, something which Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore vehemently opposes. Unable to act against Grindelwald himself, Dumbledore enlists the help of his former student Newt, who must move quickly if he is to stop Grindelwald from becoming too powerful in an increasingly divided world.

Moderate fantasy threat.
