A Syrian Love Story
Fifteen years ago, political activists Amer and Raghda met in a Syrian prison. Stationed in neighbouring cells, over a period of months they communicated through a tiny hole in the wall, gradually falling in love. When they were released, they got married and started a family. However, they were torn apart by the brutal Assad dictatorship, their children spending their entire lives seeing Amer and Raghda imprisoned for their political beliefs. Filmed over the course of five years – beginning before the Arab Spring of 2011 – this remarkable documentary paints an intimate portrait of a family fighting for change, forced to flee their home and take refuge in France where they helplessly watch political events take a catastrophic turn.
Strong language, references to torture, images of real dead bodies.
