Explore positive examples of rebellion through protagonists who refuse to follow society's rules; celebrate the big-screen musical across the ages; highlight the importance of mental wellbeing in a changing, uncertain world; journey through history to explore significant events, periods, movements and figures from the past; celebrate the natural world and the animals inhabiting it, whilst highlighting the planet's increasing fragility; embark on fantastical adventures across worlds both familiar and imaginary; and display the power of words, imagery, storytelling and other forms of creativity and self-expression.
Film titles will include premieres and the latest blockbusters alongside old favourites, documentaries, animations, short films, modern foreign language titles and much more, all mapped against curricula from across the four UK nations, and supported by the Festival's various educational resources.
