This biopic of the great American writer Truman Capote had the double misfortune of coming out shortly after Capote, the movie which had already gained so much attention and awards, and of covering pretty much the same ground. In Cold Blood, the true crime classic which made Capote's reputation. But it is in many ways as strong and gripping a story, and Toby Jones's lead performance is arguably as good as Philip Seymour Hoffman's in the earlier film.
