Sebastian and Kathryn, two bored, spoilt step-siblings wile away their summer seducing and manipulating those around them. Their callous actions cause far more damage than they could ever have anticipated in this teen-movie update of the 18th-century novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos. The story has been adapted for the screen before (in 1988's Oscar-winning Dangerous Liaisons, for example) but setting it among the gilded youth of present-day New York, and casting squeaky-clean Sarah Michelle Gellar as the arch schemer Kathryn, is inspired.
