In 1986, Northern Irish teacher Brian Keenan was kidnapped by Islamic jihadists while working as a university tutor in Beirut. Blind Flight takes its story from Keenan's book, An Evil Cradling, which documents his incarceration, firstly alone and then with fellow hostage, English journalist John McCarthy. Beautiful performances from the lead actors show how the two men's initially spiky relationship (Keenan was a Protestant, McCarthy a Catholic) developed in appalling circumstances into one of mutual support, then deep trust and respect.
