Hollywood melodrama about a pair of childhood friends who grow up to fall in love and marry against the backdrop of a small American town in the early 20th century. William Holden and Martha Scott play the young lovers and they're bolstered by a fine supporting cast that fleshes out the populace of Grover's Corners, an idyll first seen in Thornton Wilder's stage play. The film makes some changes to Wilder's somewhat starker and more doom-laden source material, but is enjoyable nonetheless.
Optimistic, life-affirming drama about three veterans who return to the same small town at the end of WW2 and the trials they face reintegrating.
