A fragile newcomer in the seemingly delightful Connecticut town of Stepford notices that something suspicious is happening to the women in the community. They all seem oddly docile and completely happy with what their husbands say. This is a remake of a spooky 1975 drama that was made at the height of early feminism the difference this time round is that there's much more emphasis on satirical comedy rather than creepy atmospherics. PLEASE BE AWARE: After ordering The Stepford Wives you may receive a disc marked as being a 15 certificate however, this relates to the extra features on the DVD and not the film itself, which is certified with the BBFC as a 12. Into Film has consulted the BBFC, and their guidance is that as long as a club leader screens only the film (and not the additional features or audio commentaries etc), The Stepford Wives can be treated as a 12 certificate in a school setting.
This visually spectacular German sci-fi classic (made, incredibly, in 1927) sees the rich live in skyscrapers and the poor toil underground.
