A fantastic cast of horror legends graces this less-than-faithful but very funny adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's dread-filled poem. Peter Lorre is the eponymous bird, swiftly transformed into a human here, who enlists the help of Vincent Price in his battle with sorcerer Boris Karloff. Director Roger Corman was known for taking chances on complete unknowns (a very young Jack Nicholson plays Lorre's son) and giving forgotten stars a new lease of life; this is where the past and future of Hollywood met, and had a ball.
Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story, this great-looking horror is the tale of a rich nobleman who thinks he's going mad after his wife's death.
