23rd March 1931 Shaheed tells the story of the Indian political activist Bhagat Singh, who campaigned against British rule in India during the late 1920s and early 1930s. The son of a Sikh family who were set against colonial rule, Singh was active in protesting against Britain's control over India even as a teenager - but then split with the belief of spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi that the British authorities should be resisted peacefully, and instead began an armed struggle. It was that decision that would have momentous consequences.
Adaptation of EM Forster's novel, in which an Englishwoman in 1920s India claims something happened on a trip to see some caves with a Muslim doctor.
