A stuffy professor finds himself sucked into a world of intrigue and espionage after he agrees to translate a mysterious ancient Egyptian text in this enjoyable 1960s spy caper. Director Stanley Donen apes Alfred Hitchcock to some degree with the 'innocent abroad in a nest of spies' plot, but Sophia Loren as the triple-crossing femme fatale, the colourful Swinging Sixties locations and a stylish Henry Mancini score make for a most enjoyable period romp.
The beginning of the long-running franchise sees Bond in the Bahamas, trying to stop the mysterious Dr. No from sabotaging the US space programme.
