Released as two films, director Steven Soderbergh's sprawling biopic of Argentinean revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara is staggering in its ambition. Like Guevara himself, the film's narrative is complex and enigmatic, relying on flashbacks and other non-linear techniques as it unfolds. Part 1 explores Guevara's role in the Cuban revolution and his fiery relationship with Fidel Castro, while Part 2 charts his notoriously doomed campaign in Bolivia. The whole is an ambiguous but completely engrossing portrait.
