Synopsis

An experimental 2001 drama from Jean-Luc Godard, the French film-maker whose 'guerrilla' style shoot-and-run techniques in the 1960s changed the way films were made for ever. On the surface it's the story of three couples going through the four phases of love - they meet, fall for each other, fall out, and then come to terms with what's happened. But there's far more going than that simple premise suggests, notably a meditation on memory, history and the 'Hollywoodisation' of global cultures.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
