The Coen Brothers are nothing if not diverse, their films ranging from the wacky (Raising Arizona, Burn After Reading) to the intense (No Country for Old Men, Miller's Crossing) while gleefully twisting a multitude of genres out of shape. This is one of their lighter efforts, which sees seemingly-heartless divorce lawyer Miles Massey unwillingly falling in love with the equally ruthless Marilyn Rexroth, though its take on the classic 1940s screwball comedy formula still contains enough sharp barbs to make sure the viewer doesn't get too comfortable.
