This is a simple and short film from 1936 about a Parisian family's Sunday out. Intended to last an hour but cut short because of the incessant rain during shooting, it's nevertheless rated extremely highly by critics. It tells a simple story of a snatched moment of intimacy between a young man and woman with visuals that recall a vanished period of history. Incredibly evocative.
Masterpiece from director Jean Renoir set in 1939 France about illicit affairs among guests at a shooting party at a wealthy couple's country home.
