Action and Adventure
After the success of earlier Errol Flynn vehicles Robin Hood and The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, Hollywood executives sent their swashbuckling star to sea for this 1940 rousing maritime adventure about an English privateer in 16th century Europe taking on the deceitful and untrustworthy Spanish. Having previously tackled high-seas action with Flynn in Captain Blood, director Michael Curtiz proves a very assured hand at the tiller.
The most famous of all the film versions of the tale of the Nottinghamshire outlaw, this swashbuckling 1930s tale stars the great Errol Flynn.
