Synopsis

Charlie Kauffman has made his name with wildly inventive screenplays for films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich. Here, in his first film as director, he takes his unique vision to even stranger places. Philip Seymour Hoffman stars as hypochondriac playwright Caden Cotard, dissatisfied with his career and personal life. When he's offered a mysterious 'genius' grant to create a powerful, truthful masterpiece, life doesn't just imitate art, the two become increasingly impossible to tell apart...

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
