What if the Nazis had invaded Britain 70 years ago? Lots of serious historians have spent a long time thinking about that question, but it's unlikely their answer is anything like this comedy made with action figures and dolls. In real life, Churchill never got to take on the Germans with a machine gun, but he does here. The film has lots of fun with war film clichés and British myths about 'our finest hour' - as well as, rather randomly, Braveheart. An enjoyable, if not exactly respectful, tribute to the war effort.
