This collection of morale-boosting documentaries, propaganda items and recruitment films paints a fascinating portrait of life in the British armed forces from 1946 to 1985. Made by the Central Office of Information, there are films here by directors who would go on to make a name for themselves internationally, including Peter Greenaway and If. director, Lindsay Anderson. Disc 1 highlights include: Victory Parade (1946), in which troops celebrate victory over the Nazis and They Stand Ready (1955), a look at the vital role of national service. PLEASE NOTE: The running time refers to the total running time of both discs in the collection.
