Synopsis

In this tender and beautifully acted mix of sci-fi and romance, a peaceful alien crashes on Earth and has to assume human form to escape detection. He chooses the likeness of young widow Jenny Hayden's late husband, freaking her out when she witnesses his transformation. Going from shock to terror, she understandably takes a while to accept the gentle starman isn't going to harm her, finally agreeing to help him rendezvous with his fellow extra-terrestrials after he explains he'll die in three days if he doesn't get home. What follows is a kind of ET for older viewers, as Jenny and Starman race to reach the Arizona meeting point before the in-pursuit authorities do, and find heart-tugging love in the process.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
