Based on a true story, Sport
This inspiring sports drama is set in the 1960s American South, where the integration of African-American players into basketball teams was still highly controversial. It focuses on the real-life story of a college team that broke down these barriers, through having the first all Black starting line-up for the NCAA national champs under coach Don Haskins. The Texas Western team, which had previously not had much of a reputation as a strong contender, showed they could succeed on court and pose a challenge to the University of Kentucky's all-white team in the championship, combating stirred racial resentment in the process.
Fascinating documentary about the famous "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match in Zaire, which also sheds light on Muhammad Ali's enduring appeal.
