The inspiring yet emotional true story of heroic Burmese activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi and her academic husband, Michael Aris, is respectfully told in this unusual project for action specialist Luc Besson. An epic tale of extreme self-sacrifice, courage and devotion, it explores how the extraordinary couple gave up their personal happiness for a higher cause. As Suu Kyi strives to peacefully bring democracy to military-ruled Burma, she ends up under house arrest and kept apart from her UK-based family for years. But despite the long separations, her and Michael's love endures.
