Synopsis

To mark the 50th anniversary of 007's first appearance in the cinema, this fascinating documentary tells the story of how Ian Fleming's James Bond went from page to screen. Largely focusing on the story of the three key players behind the scenes - producers Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli and Harry Saltzman as well as Fleming himself - the documentary also has a host of interviews from former Bonds reminiscing about what it was like to portray perhaps the most iconic character in screen history. As well as showing the complex relationships between the franchise's key players, the documentary also places the films in a wider social and cultural context, highlighting how the character has evolved and been reinvented over the years, remaining as popular as ever.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
