Synopsis

Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood goes on a journey of father-daughter reconciliation in this simple yet solid sports drama that examines how we deal with life's trials and tribulations. He plays ailing baseball scout Gus, formerly among the best in his business, but now facing the chop thanks to his old age. Given one last assignment to prove his worth, he ends up being reluctantly chaperoned by his estranged daughter Mickey as he heads off to evaluate a high-school batting sensation. With resentful Mickey and her bad-tempered dad never having got on, it's a challenging trip. However, the more time they spend together, the more their mutual frostiness naturally thaws, resulting in new discoveries that could change their futures.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
