Synopsis

Gruff Rhys is best known as a musician. He is a member of Super Furry Animals and Neon Neon, and has also performed with the likes of Mogwai, Goldie Lookin' Chain and De La Soul. Separado! is a fun and occasionally poignant documentary in which Rhys attempts to trace his ancestry and connect with distant relatives in Patagonia, right at the Southernmost tip of South America. He is particularly interested in fellow musicians amongst his relations. While the local people are largely bemused by his wacky performances, Rhys enjoys a fulfilling trip, making some fascinating discoveries along the way.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
