The passionate rivalries and feuds of artistic families have long provided rich material for writers and filmmakers. This semi-autobiographical film from legendary director Francis Ford Coppola examines the secrets and betrayals of one such family. Tetro is a former writer who has reinvented himself with a new name and new country in an effort to escape his father; a man that both inspires and stifles his creativity. However, the unexpected arrival of his brother years later threatens his to destabilise this new identity, unearthing uncomfortable truths in the family's history and forcing Tetro to finish his great, abandoned masterpiece. Striking black and white photography ensure this operatic film is visually as well as emotionally engaging.
