Synopsis

It’s 1962, and American newlyweds Chester and Collette are spending their honeymoon meandering around sun-drenched Greece. There, they meet enigmatic graduate student Rydal, who they take on as a tour guide, despite being witness to his brazen scamming of other tourists. Infatuated with the couple and their luxurious lifestyle, Rydal visits their hotel one evening after dinner, and finds himself accomplice to an appalling crime, thus bonding him to the pair in ways none of them had anticipated. Based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, this elegant Hitchcockian drama draws on old-fashioned suspense and gorgeous scenery in a fascinating probe into what lies beneath the images people choose to present to the world.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
