Synopsis

A body found in the Arizona desert, bearing a distinctive tattoo of the name Dayani Cristal, is the starting point for this powerful documentary. We follow forensic workers as they piece together the dead man’s identity and connect with his remaining relatives. Meanwhile, actor Gael Garcia Bernal retraces the man’s steps from Central America toward the US – a dangerous journey undertaken by many migrants determined to secretly cross the border and make it through the inhospitable desert. The film gives a human gives an insight into the many challenges faced by undocumented migrants who are in need and desperate to make a better life.
