Coming of Age, Drama
Hungarian (English subtitles)
When Lilli’s mum leaves on a business trip she is packed off to spend three months with her grumpy father in his cramped apartment. To make matters worse, he refuses to pay the city’s mongrel taxes and forces Lilli to give up her beloved dog, Hangen. Heartbroken, Lilli scours the streets of Budapest to find her pet but, as we see, Hangen has already begun an adventure that leads to dangerous encounters with cruel humans and a mysterious uprising of the city’s street dogs. Filmed from the dog's perspective, this strikingly original film blends coming-of-age drama with the nightmarish quality of The Birds to thrilling effect.
Enchanting film from famed British social realist director Ken Loach, about a young lad with an unhappy life, who befriends and tames a kestrel hawk.
