Fred Ballinger is a prestigious orchestra conductor and composer, using his retirement to spend time in the Alps with his famous film director best friend, Mick Boyle, and his daughter, Lena. As Fred is approached by the Queen’s emissary to perform at Prince Philip’s upcoming birthday, Mick is working on repeated drafts of his next – and perhaps final – feature. Throughout, the two men mull over the complexities of aging, fame and family, encountering old friends and new. This gorgeously visual and sensual drama ultimately sees all involved attempting to make sense of their lives, as well as taking a swipe at celebrity culture.
Heartwarming film about an ambitious composer who takes a teaching job to tide him over, and finds that the job becomes his main passion.

Complex but hugely original and very funny comedy that takes apart the way Hollywood movies are normally constructed.
