Believing America’s society and politics is in a state of emergency, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore looks to Europe for inspiration. In his customary tongue in cheek nature Moore sets out with an American flag to invade several European countries and steal their best policies. Meeting with politicians, educationalists, police, workers and students he interrogates why certain policies work - France’s healthy school meals, Italy’s working hours and holiday pay, Portugal’s drug laws, Iceland’s gender quotas – and concludes America needs them as well. An intriguing film that introduces European socio-political policies in an accessible and comedic way and at its heart holds a touching plea from its filmmaker to return America to the dream it once was.
