Synopsis

Prescott is the young son of an American diplomat sent to France to negotiate the state of Europe with the Treaty of Versailles. In the fraught post-World War One atmosphere, Prescott is bored and unhappy, and discovers a talent for manipulation which he practices on his tutors and household staff. Before long, the boy discovers that with each tantrum he gains more ground, with the adults at his beck and call. Using his newfound power, he starts on the path towards becoming the authoritarian leader of an undisclosed nation, echoing the trajectories to power of many of the twentieth century’s fascist dictators.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
