Synopsis

Based on the true story of Louisa Gould, who took in an escaped Russian prisoner-of-war and hid him from the Nazis. Isolated on Jersey, an island that was left to fend for itself after a successful Nazi occupation, and with her husband and sons off at the front, Louise takes it upon herself to provide shelter when she meets a young man in need. Relying on the support of the island’s community to maintain the ruse, she attempts to integrate ‘Bill’, hoping that by hiding him in plain sight they will avoid the notice of the occupying forces. An emotionally taut film that explores the different forms that acts of resistance can take.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
