Synopsis

Taking place in feudal India, The Warrior is a mythical adventure story about Lafcadia, a cold-blooded lone warrior who renounces his violent role as a law enforcer for a sadistic leader of a local political regime. His decision causes him to be murderously pursued through the Himalayan mountains by the tyrant and his henchman. They refuse to accept his decision, eventually burning Lafcadia’s home to the ground and placing his son under arrest. The feature debut of Asif Kapadia, this is a film of striking beauty and powerful ideas, drawing on ancient storytelling techniques and mystical themes, combined with the innovative filmmaking ideas that have made Kapadia one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.
