Richard Thorncroft is a 1980s relic, known for his work on the TV detective series “Mindhorn”, in which he played the title character. Down on his luck and barely remembered, fate offers him a chance to return to the spotlight when a criminal refuses to speak to anybody but him, believing the fictional character to be real. Thorncroft is beyond eager to assist the police with their duties on the Isle of Man – despite often proving more of a hindrance than a help – and only too pleased to don the once-famous costume once more, even if it doesn’t fit quite as well as it used to.
