Synopsis

Patti Cake$ is the stage name of aspiring rapper and New Jersey teenager Patricia Dombrowski, also known as Killa-P. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of her idol, she hits the road to pursue her dreams of making it in the music world, despite being told she doesn’t have a creative bone in her body. Aided by her best friend, her grandmother and a mysterious musician, Patti rebels against her upbringing, surroundings and societal pressures to show that she is just as able and willing to make it in the industry as anybody else. Patti Cake$ is a high-energy, uplifting and incredibly endearing film, joyously celebrating difference and diversity.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
