Synopsis

Charleen is 15 years old, bright and witty, and convinced that she is the world’s biggest fan of Nirvana front-man Kurt Cobain, as well as other rock stars who died young, such as Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse. Anxious about facing adulthood, a severe bout of depression causes Charleen to attempt to take her own life. Waking up in hospital Charleen, her family and her friends are all forced to re-examine their lives and relationships with one another, partly through the help of an eccentric psychologist. Gradually Charleen learns to reconnect with the world and begins to revel in the joys that life can bring. This is a warm-hearted, intelligent and perceptive German coming-of-age comedy drama.
