Housed in a grand 18th century estate, Headfort School is Ireland’s only boarding house for primary-aged students. Two of its teachers – husband and wife duo John and Amanda Leyden – have resided there for most of their lives, perpetually educating and inspiring the next generation. The film follows a year in the life of John and Amanda as they attempt to decide on what comes next, contemplating retirement, as well as observing the young lives who they have such a formative impact upon. ‘School Life’ is a meeting of tradition, change, history and modernity, and is a charming and uplifting fly-on-the-wall documentary.
