Japanese (English subtitles)
A group of teenagers are all set for the town firework display, arguing over whether the shape of the fireworks changes depending on where you view them from. Two of the boys, Yusuke and his best friend Norimichi, both have a crush on the same girl, Nazuna. She challenges the two to race each other, with the winner getting to accompany her to the firework display. After the race, a time loop begins which presents an alternate reality as the day is repeated, culminating in the other boy winning, indicating what could have been. With thematic musings on missed opportunities and young love, ‘Fireworks’ is a teen sci-fi which has echoes of smash-hit anime ‘Your Name’.
